The Gaia Centre
The approach we are adopting at The Gaia Centre…
Good health involves approaching wellness from many different angles. Optimal physical and mental health and ultimately spiritual growth can only truly be gained from a holistic (complete) approach. The areas you need to address during this adventure we call ‘Life’ are not limited to your body but also to your energy systems, your spirit, your mind (conscious and subconscious), and your emotions.
It is still often overlooked, but a holistic approach to health is absolutely essential to your physical health and well being. No matter how devoted you are to a proper diet and active lifestyle, you will not achieve your body’s ideal healing and preventative capability if you neglect other aspects such as mental spiritual and emotional healing.
On this page you will find details of the practitioners who operate out of the Gaia Centre, together with information about the treatments that they offer.
So if you are looking for a place that assists you to optimise your health, recuperate from illness or injury, explore different methods of relaxation, reduce your stress levels or simply to just generally improve your wellbeing please contact us to see how we can help.
Counselling and Psychotherapy
Keith Abbott & Kaiqing Yang – Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy
“Making more of tomorrow, today!”
Who we are
We are Keith Abbott and Kaiqing Yang , person-centred counsellors / psychotherapists. Unlike most private counsellors who work as sole practitioners or traders, we’re a counselling partnership. We’re excited to be offering our services through the Gaia Centre. As well as the summary below, there’s a lot about us and how we work at:
What we do
We provide you with person-centred counselling and psychotherapy, an internationally recognized and scientifically evidence-based form of talking therapy in which we are both qualified to Master’s degree level.
Person-centred counselling offers you the chance of experiencing realizations and improvements personal to you, through the experience of being listened to attentively, deeply understood, and highly valued as a person in a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship. We each also bring our own personal genuineness and experience to our clients. Ours is an empowering approach.
Who we help
We serve a wide variety of clients, and regard each person as equally important to us in their own right. We like meeting in person, though to all clients, we also offer “Skype”, telephone and “chat” based counselling. We help:
- Private individuals
- Business / corporate clients
- International students and workers
- UK students
What we help with
Our approach is non-diagnostic – as we see it, we’re always working with a person not their troubles or an illness. For us, it is all about you. That said, we help people seeking personal growth and self-development as well as those with issues such as dealing with abuse, addictions (including sexual, alcohol, substances and gambling), anxiety, bereavement, trauma and PTSD, loneliness, depression, relationship troubles, sexuality, stress, transitioning, self-harm, suicide tendencies, finding meaning and purpose in life, motivation, facing big changes and culture shock to name just some.
What’s different about us?
We’re a culturally diverse partnership each with considerable life experience. As well as counselling, Keith has worked in industry, law, and university teaching while Kaiqing has trained as a chemist and also counselled in China. We’re not just text book learners. We’ve each suffered knocks, fought battles and possess hard-earned insights.
As a team, we’re better placed to empower you to make positive, meaningful choices and change your life for the better. We work collaboratively to make the most of our experience, knowledge and multi-cultural backgrounds, to provide you with the support you need, at the time you need it most.
In short, we walk our talk and are very much here for you.
Qualifications and Experience
We both have Masters degrees from Nottingham University in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice (with distinction or merit).
We both have clear Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks which you’re welcome to inspect.
We are Members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

“I am Henrietta Paxton, (The Nourished Soul) an international athlete and Nutritional Therapist who is passionate about spreading the love of REAL food, and its incredible power to help you to reach optimal health.
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimal health and peak performance and can identify potential nutritional imbalances and explain how these contribute to symptoms.
